What is the Coup?

The Coup is about the accusations by the military, that the 2020 elections were rigged. NLD won a landslide victory. The people of Myanmar say that a lot of malpractice happened during the elections. Over 8.4 million alleged irregularities were found but the United Election Commission denied it. The demands of these were for the government or the United Election Commission to prove that the elections were free and fair, which, in response were rejected.

Why is News?

This was in the news because the Myanmar's military grabbed the power from the newly elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi the leader of the National  League for Democracy party. Along with Aung San Suu Kyi, the president of Myanmar, Win Myint was also detained by their military.
